St. Petersburg & Vicinity

Восьмидневный визит в северную столицу.
Фотки с более подробными комментариями (другого автора) советую посмотреть на http://www.enlight.ru/camera/index.htm Галина.
We stayed at St Petersburg for eight days in July of 2005. In addition to enjoying the city itself, we visited three Royal palaces and Kronstadt. If you plan to travel to St. Petersburg, I’d highly recommend having a look at http://www.enlight.ru/camera/churches2/index_e.html where picture comments are much more elaborate.

Inspired by his visit to Versailles, Peter the Great had the palace and the dazzling water cascade built by 1724. The palace was rebuilt during his daughter’s (Elizabeth) time by Bartolomeo Rastrelli.

Pavlovsk
Jul 25, 2005

Catherine the Great’s favorite architect Charles Cameron built this palace for her son and heir Paul I. Having enjoyed the palace and the garden, we went to a nice ethnic restaurant nearby.
